Summary
AARI is a founding member of the Agriculture Funding Consortium, a cooperative group of funding agencies whose goal is to streamline the grant application process and offer more collaborative opportunities. With one application, applicants can reach every member of the Funding Consortium. The process is simplified for applicants, yet still ensures their proposals are exposed to a number of funding agencies. Members of the Funding Consortium represent both industry sector groups and government agencies, so research and development priorities are consistent with an industry-based perspective. As a member, AARI has a greater opportunity to jointly fund applications with other members. For applicants, this increases the likelihood that their proposal will receive the financial support that is required.
The funding process starts with the primary call for research pre-proposals and development full applications from September 1 to October 1. Each member agency of the Funding Consortium will look at the proposals individually and then as a Consortium. Applicants of research pre-proposals are notified by Nov 1 whether or not their pre-proposal was successful. If the pre-proposal makes the short list, a full proposal must be submitted by Dec 1. All research and development proposals are reviewed by leading experts including international reviewers.
On-going research and development funding
AARI also accepts proposals throughout the year although it is during the primary call for applications when AARI is best coordinated to perform due diligence processes, receive board member approval, and jointly fund projects and programs within our annual budget.
