Alberta Agriculture and Food
Alberta Agriculture and Food has three key responsibilities:
-
Industry growth - facilitates new and diversified product development (primary and value-added food and non-food products),
-
Rural sustainability - maintains or improves Alberta's air, water and soil for the well-being of current and future generations through essential policy, legislation, information and services
-
Safety nets - provides safety net funding to allow farmers the opportunity to adopt the most economically viable management practices for their area.
To support its mandate of industry growth, Alberta Agriculture and Food has a number of programs devoted to supporting new and established agriculture businesses. Many of these programs are geared towards helping new and established agri-food companies.
